Microsoft Vista's new Interface

Feb 27 2006 Published by under Uncategorized

Microsoft recently announced a new way to interact with the upcoming release of Windows Vista.

By singing "I'm a Little Teapot", with the associated actions, Microsoft hopes to encourage a younger generation to use Windows Vista as early as possible.

From the BBC News website, AP Demonstrating this method at the CES, Bill Gates said "it will be a refreshing way to work with a computer, especially for pre-school children".

He added; "We are currently working with Disney and other media companies to create an interface that the target audience will interact with, such as Tigger and Barney the Dinosaur."

Rumours were rife after this demonstration that Microsoft would delay their release of the long overdue Vista to create an extra version to the six already announced, and the possibility of this new version being called Vista Kiddy.

Responding to these rumours, Mr Gates stated "We have no intention of delaying Vista any longer; this new exciting way to use Windows Vista is a work in progress".

Microsoft declined to say what requirements were needed for this new software, and whether it would be made available as a download or through a purchased "add on".

:-! This is humour. Please treat it as such !-:

Yeah, right.

The British army are abusing Iraqi civilians again. Supposedly.

I'm sorry, I do not believe that our Armed forces would do something like this. Yes, there are people who have a "thing" about any violence and they would gravitate toward the Forces, but would the Forces really keep them in a peace keeping operation? Where they would be tested to breaking? Where they would be frustrated and more likely to enact their "thing"? Please, give the officers credit; they maybe there for the wrong reasons, but they ain't gonna fsck the job up.

The News of the World is known for their impatiality, fairness and objective views.
Yeah, and I wrote the Theory of General Relativity.

There's a fscking plastic garden furniture chair in the background of their front page picture, for gods sake. The Army is gonna transport someones plastic chair over to Iraq so the troops can sit down???

It is a disgusting and immoral way to sell a newspaper. They (the NotW, Sun etc) are called gutter press for a damned good reason.

I have it at last!!

I'm in an exceptionally excellent mood at the moment.

I've cracked a programming problem that has bugged me for over a week and a half; how to get C to accept 2 commands with a space in between them.

This sounds trivial, and it is; but I'm not a C programmer, and all the while I knew I could do it in a few hours with bash; but as the illustrious Sir Winston Churchill said;

"Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb."

I'm climbing rapidly, but for the moment I'm gonna take a break and admire the view. :-)

Nb: you can tell I'm in a very good mood (possibly touching 9/10 on the happiness scale) because of the excessive use of superlatives.

First off, 2 apologies;

1) To whoever reads this,
2) To Streamline (my web hosting company) for stressing their servers, you'll find out why in a minute.

Now for the main reason of this post:

Telewest.

More specifically, their "high speed broadband".

Or lack thereof.

If the connection didn't work at all; a phone call would tell me that XYZ is broken and they are working to fix it.
If the connection was slow; a phone call to complain that it was slow when we pay £30 a month for "high speed broadband"

These, however they maybe an inconvenience, I can cope with.

What I can't f**king well cope with is an internet connection that emulates a yo-yo; one minute high speed, next minute crawling; one minute working, next minute not working.

I was downloading at the incredible "high speed broadband" rate of 120Kb/s earlier today. I was happy that it did (finally) do what we pay for.

What I am incadescent with rage is what I am pulling now; 1.2Kb/s.

This, under normal circumstances would not be a huge problem at 2am.

Except I am trying to upload work.

Open mc, login, copy files across ... nope, times out.
Open mc, login, copy files across ... nope, times out.
Open mc, login, copy files across ... nope, times out.
Open mc, login, copy files across ... one file gets copied, times out.
Open mc, login, copy files across ... one file gets copied, times out.
Open mc, try to login, times out.

Repeat this a few times (the files are only 20Kb each) and tell me you wouldn't be ready to go down to the Telewest offices with a tank, a few high explosive shells and a canister of sarin.

I want my own server with ADSL from an ISP that is competent. Please.
Think of the children. :-P
